Schedule: Monday-Thursday, 10hr days

Location: Beaver, Fillmore, Loa, Richfield
Overview: Assist primarily the wildlife program in monitoring and data collection, including backcountry surveys. These positions are with the Fishlake National Forest and interns are needed in each of the listed locations. Housing is not provided.
Position Responsibilities:
Assist with summer wildlife field program of work including population and habitat use monitoring, habitat improvement work
maintenance of wildlife habitat infrastructure improvements like grazing exclosure fencing and guzzlers.
Flammulated owl surveys (night work), three-toed woodpecker surveys, neo-tropical bird monitoring, bat surveillance, and assisting with sensitive plant monitoring.
Assisting with fuels reduction/wildlife habitat improvement ongoing work and other multiple use forest and range management projects on the Beaver and/or Fillmore Ranger Districts of the Fishlake National Forest.
Some camping may be required and some rigorous backcountry off trail travel is required.
Qualifications:
Key wildlife species identification, natural history and habitat knowledge
Horse use experience is preferred and may be acquired on the job and would require certification
A valid Driver License
The ability to work effectively and independently for long hours in the field
A working knowledge of GPS and 4x4 vehicle operation
Occasional ATV use. ATV use would require certification conducted by Forest
Experience with Microsoft Word & Excel
